The Capstone
Fair
Every year, the Graduate Center hosts a Capstone Fair that showcases all of the projects completed during the current academic year. The Fair this year will be held on July 12th.
Regional employers, alumni, faculty, administrators, advisors, and the public are all invited to attend, view the projects, talk with the students, and enjoy some light refreshments. These guests offer you feedback, often solicit your contact information for follow-up, and engage in more specific conversations with you about your experiences and skills.
You should be prepared to speak for a short period to your peer group and should welcome Q+A to provide you with a final impetus for the remaining month of your Capstone project. Students often recognize similarities and synergies at the Capstone Fair and develop small focus groups to hone aspects of their projects.
The Capstone Fair resembles a typical Poster Session at an academic conference. You should prepare a self-standing cardboard display that summarizes the highlights of your project, allowing you to refer to and charts, photos, graphs, screen shots, or other materials during your informal discussions about the project.
Although participation in the Capstone Fair is not formally evaluated as part of your final grade, it is an invaluable experience for soliciting a wide range of feedback and to prepare you for the final presentation.
Exact times and more on formats will be published closer to the event.
