Business Course for Artists

If you're an artist who is more at home with creativity than you are with contracts and profit margins, help is on the way. Again this year, Marlboro Graduate Center is hosting the “Business Planning for Artists” program from March 21st 2007.

“Business Planning for Artists” is a 12 session course that will explore all aspects of small business management, focusing of issues of particular interest to individuals who make all or part of their living from selling their art.

Topics will include copyright protection and understanding contracts, market research, working with galleries, participating in trade shows, selling to retail customers, using technology in your business, pricing, record keeping, and managing your finances.

The course begins Wednesday, March 21, and will meet on Wednesdays through June 6. Sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon. 

All classes will be held at Marlboro College Graduate Center, 28 Vernon Street,. Brattleboro.

The course is part of the Micro Business Development Program, which is sponsored by Southeastern Vermont Community Action, Inc.
