Front and Center, Lisa Sieverts

Lisa Sieverts
Lisa Sieverts
This month we are delighted to put the spotlight on Lisa Sieverts as our new Master of Science in Management Program Director.

A better selection for this role would be hard to find. Not only has Lisa been doing an outstanding job as an instructor here at the Center, she brings a record of success to her new position.

Professionally, Lisa owns Facilitated Change, a project management consulting firm. Among her many clients, she lists Hamilton Sundstrand, a United Technologies Company, SymQuest Group, Inc., Mount Holyoke College, and Vision Financial Corporation.

Before Lisa founded Facilitated Change, she worked for Hewlett-Packard in California and Idaho for 12 years. During that time, she built a solid résumé in a variety of positions including Technical Support Specialist, Systems Administrator, Information Technology Consultant, and finally a Project Manager.

In addition, Lisa is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI), a global leader in the development of standards for the practice of project management. In addition, she holds an M.B.A. from the distinguished Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.

Now as the MSM Program Director, Lisa has already set some goals. She notes: "I'll be working with our fantastic faculty to make sure we're offering the best possible program. I want to enhance cross- pollination between programs and courses. For example, we'll ensure that the courses in Change Management and Project Management reinforce each other without redundancy." Lisa adds, "I appreciate having the pedagogic support of Marlboro College behind us -- I believe this is what helps our program to be rigorous and academic -- but I also appreciate the "real world" practicality of the Grad Center. We teach critical thinking, but we also provide 'tools you can use.'"

If the above has you thinking that Lisa is packed with energy, you're right. With her "spare" time, Lisa does the following: Project Management Institute, Greater Monadnock Keene, NH Chapter, VP of Internet Operations. And, Hannah Grimes Marketplace Development, Keene, NH, Secretary. And… Monadnock Folklore Society, Nelson, NH, Secretary. With all that, you'd think she'd be out of breath. Wrong! She also "can often be found at the local contra dances, either calling or dancing. I also enjoy hiking and skiing in our beautiful countryside."

No wonder we're so proud to have you on our faculty and so excited about your heading up the MSM program. Lisa, take a well-deserved bow.

Catch the New Gallery Exhibit

Awaiting Phoebe
Awaiting Phoebe
"Catch" is the operative word, as the latest exhibit will run only through Friday, October 13th. So, if you plan to be in the area, don't miss the chance to stop by.

This month's exhibit features the talents of our Technology Center tenants and their families. Exhibitors include our very own Kelly Fletcher (photography) and Bethany Catron (images from Japan). Other works are by Bobi Jentis (acrylic on canvas), Andy Hampton (pottery), Candace Stoumen (oil on paper), Drew Adam (images from Afghanistan), Ida Adam (pen & ink), Rob Cramp (custom crafted furniture), Diane Petrie (oil on paper and paper maché sculpture), Lynn Larson (crafts), and Denny Immergut (paintings).

During the week Gallery hours are 9 a.m.- 3 p.m..

Class Notes

Suzanne Coyle, ISM '99, recently sent us the following: "Left Corporate America to commercialize a financial advisory package to sell to financial advisory community and associations - replete with seminars, instructor notes, software and member website. Still being "baked" but am excited to put to use the multi-disciplined learnings from the Grad Center. Hope everyone is well. Enjoy the Fall in Vermont."

Amy Stevens, MAT '06, updated us that she is "busily applying every lesson she learned in Conceptual Web Design to the overhaul of a web site for a small, public liberal arts college in the Berkshires. When she isn't experiencing moments of complete culture shock (almost every desk has an actual, working typewriter that is essential to the business of the college) she and her family can be found climbing the local mountains and slumming in the art galleries."

Marissa Marquez, ISM '00, emailed us: "Hope you're doing well and enjoying the fall color. I definitely miss that! Just wanted to send a quick update. I took a hiatus from web development and taught English in Japan for about 8 months and spent another 4 months traveling around Bali, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. I returned to San Francisco in March and eventually found work developing online courses. I was just recently offered a web production job at Chow.com, a new food website produced by CNET Networks. Oh, and I have a new pet Chinchilla named Tater Tot."
