Carol and students tackle project management
The round of applause and enthusiastic comments that ended the Project Management workshop last Saturday told the story. Gradcenter instructor Carol Forsythe had done an outstanding job of covering the topic and interacting with the participants. During the two-hour session, Carol combined a lecture, PowerPoint, and student activities that focused on three keys to successful project management:
- Communication
- Work breakdown structures
- Risk management
Carol has been a certified Project Management Professional since 1998, and she is President of the PMI Keene, NH Monadnock Region Chapter. She brings over 18 years experience as a project manager in the Services supply chain for Hewlett-Packard. Currently, Carol is Project Leader with Newsbank, Inc for the publishing of digital products of historical governmental papers.

Hello fellow GC people!
I have WONDERFUL news!
I GOT A JOB! A real job! As of this coming Tuesday, I
will officially be THE web developer for the NYS
Office of Courts Administration! (www.nycourts.gov)... The dept is very small: there's
a graphics guy, a programmer and a designer... I'm the
incoming developer! It's a grunt job; I'll be doing
nothing but hand-coding content to add to the 30,000 +
pages of the NY Courts website. Oh my god, I'm working
for the government!
I attribute everything to my experience at the GC, and
if it wasn't for my awesome training in HTML, XHTML
and CSS with Jen, I wouldn't be where I landed today.
I'm sooooo happy and we'll be celebrating tonight!
Thanks, guys, for everything! I'll keep you posted on
the upcoming accomplishments!
All the best.

Hey y'all,
In case you didn't know, I just returned from Peru and 2.5 weeks of leisure. Here are the fruits of my trekking; about 400 photos in reverse-chronological order for some reason -- just happened when I uploaded them.

Also, I recorded about 40 minutes of audio that I'll probably be mixing into some sort of sound collage. Buzz me if you're interested in hearing the results.
Everything is swell in Beantown. Hope it's the same where you're at.

After eighteen years, I will be "retiring" from Vermont Life Magazine
where I founded and developed VermontLife.com and
VermontLifeCatalog.com. The reason for the quotes is that I have already begun to develop my next career, a consulting service magazine
publishers. I'll be offering several services around the business operations of publishing including, in particular, Web design for the special needs of periodicals. For more information see Sensible-Strategies.com .
Diane Hafter, ISM '02, shared this news:
I just launched a new website: www.pirnie.com. Lots of people contributed to the effort, including Jen Kramer and her team at Lucidus who developed the backend templates for the Joomla content management system.
