MAT Home Courses Faculty Podcasts Calendar

The MAT was developed for, and is constantly adapting to, the needs of the instructor and trainer in their respective workplaces. The program is designed to give you a complete understanding of technology application, specifically to develop and invigorate your teaching or training.

Graduates of the MAT program use their expertise in ways as varied as their backgrounds. Most incorporate new approaches and novel techniques to their current jobs. Others embark on careers as educators or strike out for the corporate world. The MAT qualifies licensed instructors in Vermont with the required Educational Technology Specialist endorsement. We are also exploring the possibility of adding licensure to our programs (to allow you to become a qualified teacher) - ask for details.

We blend aspects of reflexivity ("interrogating one's taken-for-granted universe") and vocationalist (real-world, immediately applicable) theory to allow you to develop transferable skills through the pursuit of your learning goals. We immerse our students in an expansive learning model along the following lines:

1. Question existing practices.

2. Analyze existing practices.

3. Collaboratively build new models, concepts, and artifacts for new practices.

4. Examine and debate the created models.

5. Implement the models, concepts, and artifacts.

6. Reflect on and evaluate the process.

7. Consolidate new practices.

Our curricular flexibility allows you to move with accelerated or self-paced scheduling. (Students may graduate in the traditional year or complete their program over a longer period.) We can develop an individually tailored Study Plan to help you meet your goals and engage with your interests in a personalized and systematic manner.

30 credits required for graduation.
